TheStar.com - Another triumph for Toronto libraries
Query for those in the know: Was there community fundraising for this renovated facility?
When the Town of Aurora decided to build a new library, seniors centre and leisure complex for public use, groups and citizens came together to fundraise. This relieves the pressure on the taxpayer and allows the community to get involved in bettering the community. Besides, many of the fundraising events (e.g. car washs, bake sales, street sales, etc.) brings neighbours together in a social atmosphere that all can enjoy.
Just a question considering outside of Toronto, many municipalities require the local community to come up with some portion of the costs and not just the local taxpayer footing the bill.
